MUCH MORE THAN A MOVIE

"As director, producer, and audiovisual stakeholder in the Indian Ocean, we firmly believe in our creative talent, capacity and desire to produce, direct and disseminate our brand of film-making. We must show we can by making this challenge our driving force for this project."
David Constantin . Director

Lonbraz Kann, it's a movie, but ALSO

much more than a movie

Lonbraz Kann is a Mauritian feature film project by David Constantin. As a director and producer from Mauritius, he already has to his credit a number of internationally acclaimed and award-winning short films and documentaries. For more than 10 years, he has been involved in the development of Mauritian cinema. Lonbraz Kann is David Constantin’s first feature film.

This project is a a major opportunity to contribute to the development of cinema in this part of the Indian Ocean and Eastern Africa.

Lonbraz Kann, it's a movie, but ALSO
a value added project for Mauritius

With film-making still in its infancy in this part of the world, David Constantin’s Lonbraz Kann aims to be the breakthrough for the emergence of a sustainable cinema industry.

His film project puts the spotlight on training by proposing the organization of workshops both :

  • for actors

  • and for technicians

of the region as part of the making of the film all along the process.

Lonbraz Kann will mobilize local and regional training resources to thus contribute to social development in Mauritius.

Lonbraz Kann, it's a movie, but ALSO
a new cinematography that is emerging from our Indian Ocean region

Lonbraz Kann aims at placing Mauritius our regional Indian Ocean cinema on the world map.

The film is expected to offer to the region’s audience a glimpse of their shared history, a visual narrative deep-rooted in their collective memory and life experience, a kaleidoscope of cultural identities and heritage shaped by sugar and cane.

“Lonbraz Kann” will be set in Mauritius, but the film project involves collaborative inputs from neighbouring countries such as Reunion and Mozambique thanks to a budding network of talents and competences. It promises to be a grand premiere for regional Indian Ocean film-making and cinematography.
